After the arrival of a cold air front from the north, the first snow of the year fell earlier than usual in the French Alps, reports BFMTV.
With the arrival of cold and moist air masses from Iceland and Greenland to Western Europe, temperatures have dropped considerably across France, with temperatures below 0°C in the high mountains.
First snow of the year in early September is rare, but not exclusive to the Alps. The same thing had happened in September 2020 in the Alps and Pyrenees at an altitude of more than 2000 meters.
