Israel does not want war, but will protect its people, homes, and land. This was announced by the country's ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, speaking at the UN General Assembly, as part of Summit of the Future.
"We [i.e. Israel] are a peace-loving nation that does not want war, but we will not stand by when our country is under attack. We will use any means necessary to protect our people," Danon said.
He recalled that "since October 8 [of last year], thousands of rockets" were fired Lebanon to northern Israel, from where "over 70,000 citizens were forced to flee."
Israel is "fighting terrorism on multiple fronts," the Israeli diplomat concluded.
