The position of the Israeli leadership obstructs the signing of an agreement on the establishment of ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, has stated.

"Qatar has been acting as a mediator since the beginning of the conflict. We have been working on it for more than a year, but unfortunately [the ceasefire agreement] requires the presence of both parties. One of the parties [i.e. Israel] does not want to sign it. Whatever we do as mediators, the result remains the same. You know about obstacles. Especially recently, the Israeli side is an obstacle," said Al Thani in an interview with Qatar Television.

He emphasized that despite Doha's "consistent, clear, and well-known position" in support of the Palestinian people, the Qatari side as a mediator "acts fairly and transparently."

According to Al Thani, Qatar will continue to make efforts for the settlement of this conflict.
