We cannot talk at this time about the directions in which the changes to the National Security Strategy will be made because the main discussions we have had so far have been about the rules of procedure. Security Council secretary Armen Grigoryan stated this at the press briefing after the Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government Thursday—and referring to PM Nikol Pashinyan's announcement Wednesday that an interdepartmental commission will be established to coordinate the work on the review of Armenia's National Security Strategy, and that this commission will be chaired by the secretary of the Security Council.

“The need for a National Security Strategy arose due to the changes that have occurred in the security environment of Armenia. You know very well that the previous National Security Strategy, when it was prepared and publicized in the summer of 2020, has undergone major changes around Armenia since then. Also, taking into account the dynamics of those changes, we have waited for some time, and having certain clarifications, we have decided to have a new National Security Strategy,” Grigoryan said.

And when asked when this work will begin, the secretary of the Security Council replied: “We can consider given the start of the work, we will start working meetings very soon, discussions are taking place around this to choose suitable dates for the working group. The entire process will be public.”
