It is impossible for the outgoing US presidential administration to sign a document with any country without the approval of the incoming US administration. Arman Yeghoyan, an MP of the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction and Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, told this to reporters on Monday.

According to Yeghoyan, if it is known that the next administration will repeal such a decision, the current administration will not sign the document.

“That is why this document [i.e. the strategic partnership charter between Armenia and the US] was agreed upon [between the two US administrations],” he assured.

Yeghoyan explained that the respective structures are transmitting all these packages.

“The rest is a matter of time,” he added.

Also, the Armenian MP called for focusing not on the timing of the signing of the aforesaid charter, but on political will.

"The matter [i.e. the sending of a team of US customs and border guards to Armenia] is about timeframe. There is a political decision, it could be a week earlier or later, or a month earlier or later," Yeghoyan emphasized.
