The prime minister of Armenia is the supreme commander-in-chief, and what the prime minister says has sufficient grounds for it. First Deputy Minister of Defense-Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Edward Asryan, told this to reporters Wednesday—and commenting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that there will be no war, there will be peace.

Separately, Asryan noted that the Ministry of Defense (MoD) of Armenia will submit its point of view in the near future regarding ruling party MP Hayk Sargsyan’s controversial bill on reducing—in exchange for payment—the term of mandatory military service in the country.

Asryan added that the MoD is fighting corruption.

"There are cases when servicemen attempt to take corrupt steps, or take such risks. It is our duty to eliminate this," said the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia.
