The new package of EU sanctions will include a ban on the use of the blown up Nord Stream, blacklisting of banks and tankers, a ban on EU countries to buy Russian oil and an attempt to lower the price ceiling on it. This was stated by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen at a briefing in Brussels, presenting the draft of the 18th package of sanctions.

 “We will increase pressure on Russia by introducing powerful new sanctions. The restrictions under the 18th package will mainly affect the oil and banking sectors,” she said.

The sanctions will include banning European businesses “from any transactions related to Nord Streams,” blacklisting 77 tankers that carry oil while ignoring attempts to impose a price ceiling, lowering the oil price ceiling for Russia from $60 to $45 a barrel, blacklisting 22 more banks with a complete ban on transactions in the EU, and imposing new restrictions on exports of dual-use products and technologies to Russia.
