U.S. President Donald Trump says he is not concerned about the possibility of a regional war following Israel’s strikes on Iran. He made the remarks in an interview with Reuters.

According to Trump, the United States still plans to hold a new round of negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear program on June 15, although he did not express confidence that the talks would take place. He also stated that it remains unclear whether Iran still has a functioning nuclear program after the Israeli strikes.

The U.S President claims that Israel’s ultimate goal is to prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons.

On Friday night, Israel launched strikes on Iran. The objective of the operation was the Islamic Republic’s nuclear facilities. The Israeli Air Force struck uranium enrichment plants in Natanz and Fordow, missile bases in Kermanshah and Khorramabad, as well as targets in Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, and other major Iranian cities.

As a result of the attacks, IRGC commander Hossein Salami, Chief of the General Staff Mohammad Bagheri, commander of the IRGC Air Defense Base “Khatam al-Anbiya,” Major General Gholam-Ali Rashid, and other high-ranking military officials, as well as six nuclear scientists, were killed. Explosions were also reported at the Natanz nuclear site. According to Iranian agencies, 78 people were killed and over 300 injured in the Israeli strikes.
