“We have ensured security and stability in the region. Armenia can become part of comprehensive discussions and corridors,” said Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of Ilham Aliyev’s Administration, during a panel discussion titled “The Middle Corridor: A New Geopolitical and Economic Lifeline?” at the GLOBSEC Forum 2025 in Prague, reports APA.

He also claimed that Azerbaijan has “ensured security” in the region. Hajiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan has “expectations.”

“When the territories of Azerbaijan were under occupation, we viewed relations only through the lens of the conflict resolution process. After resolving the conflict, we believe that one of the key elements of the East-West transport corridor is the security and stability within the country. This is necessary for the full-scale and effective operation of this corridor. We have ensured security and stability in the region. Armenia can become part of the broader discussions and corridors taking place in the region. This is possible. And naturally, we have expectations from Armenia. Armenia kept Nakhchivan under blockade for 30 years. Now, we expect them to take the first important step — that is, a step regarding the Zangezur Corridor. The word ‘corridor’ irritates some of my colleagues in Armenia. Let them call it whatever they want. But first, we want to establish a connection with Nakhchivan, because for 30 years we were deprived of this opportunity. After establishing this connection, I believe other opportunities may open up for Armenia as well. We want to see Armenia as part of regional transportation,” Hajiyev stated.
