Russia and Ukraine have begun exchanging wounded prisoners, a source from the Russian negotiation team told RIA Novosti.

"Indefinite humanitarian exchanges have begun under the Istanbul agreements. The parties are handing over wounded individuals to each other," the source said.

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that another group of Russian servicemen has returned from Ukraine. In exchange, a group of Ukrainian Armed Forces prisoners was handed over to Kyiv.

All returned Russian soldiers are currently in Belarus and will soon be transferred to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation. The ministry did not specify the number of returned prisoners.

In addition, another exchange of deceased soldiers' bodies took place today. Russia returned 1,200 bodies to Ukraine but did not receive any in return.
