At the initiative of the Iranian side, a phone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"In continuation of the phone conversation held on June 13 between the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir V. Putin, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, the Russian side once again emphasized that Moscow condemns Israel's military action against Iran, carried out in violation of the UN Charter and norms of international law. Russia reaffirmed its readiness to continue supporting efforts to resolve the situation surrounding Iran's nuclear program, as well as to de-escalate the conflict between Iran and Israel.
S.V. Lavrov expressed condolences over the numerous human casualties, including among civilians, as a result of the strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It was agreed to maintain further contacts on this topic, including in connection with its discussion at the UN Security Council and the IAEA Board of Governors, as well as within the frameworks of the SCO and BRICS," the statement said.
