US President Donald Trump is skeptical of his country's involvement in the conflict between Iran and Israel, CNN reports.

The White House team argues that the involvement of the United States in the conflict between Iran and Israel could lead to an escalation of the conflict beyond the current conflicting countries and lead to an all-out war with no end in sight and no clear final objective.

If there is one lesson from the early 21st century, it is that the military objectives and Middle East analyses developed in Washington almost always turn out to be disastrously wrong, CNN adds.

Among other things, US intervention could exacerbate tensions among Trump's political base, and undermine the principle of "America First."

“Before our eyes, a new generation of leaders is transcending the ancient conflicts and tired divisions of the past, and forging a future where the Middle East is defined by commerce, not chaos; where it exports technology, not terrorism; and where people of different nations, religions, and creeds are building cities together—not bombing each other out of existence,” the US president had said during a visit to Saudi Arabia in May.

US intervention in the aforesaid conflict is inconsistent with Trump’s rhetoric, despite possible calls that Washington has a unique opportunity to eliminate Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon.

On June 13, Israel attacked Iran, which was followed by retaliatory measures. Military actions between the two countries are continuing.
