Several Pakistani politicians and notable figures have asked the government to reconsider its decision to recommend President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize after the US bombed Iran’s three nuclear sites, reports Press Trust of India (PTI).

Pakistani politicians believe that Islamabad's proposal to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize is inappropriate, at the very least, after his order to bomb Iran.

The US president's claims about his own peacekeeping efforts have turned out to be lies. Pakistan's nomination of Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize should be withdrawn, said Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, the leader of Pakistan's Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party. Trump has supported Israel's attacks on Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran. How can this be considered a desire for peace? he asked.

Former Pakistani senator Mushahid Hussain called the decision to strike Iran the US president's the biggest mistake since taking office. Trump cannot be considered a peacemaker after he started a war with Iran. The Pakistani government should withdraw its letter nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, this politician wrote on X.

Similar calls to the Pakistani government have been made also by opposition Justice Movement party MP Ali Muhammad Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami  leader Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman, former Pakistani ambassador to the US Maleeha Lodhi, and a number of well-known journalists and prominent public figures.

Early Sunday morning, US President Donald Trump announced that the US military had successfully attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities—in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Trump added that Tehran must agree to end the conflict. Israel has been carrying out daily strikes on Iran since June 13 as part of its operation against Iran's nuclear program.
