The total number of international flight reservations fell by 2 percent last week, an airline source said, reports Kommersant. And the largest drop—by 92 percent—in these bookings was recorded for flights to Israel. This is due to a change in tourist preferences due to the escalation of military conflict in the Middle East.

From June 16 to 22, reservations for summer tour packages in the UAE fell by 38 percent compared to the previous week (June 9 to 15), according to Sletat.ru. Respective interest in Egypt fell by 9.1 percent during the same period. Also, a representative of a major tour operator told the newspaper about an even more considerable drop—by 30 percent in one week—in bookings for this country.

In the early morning of June 13, Israel launched strikes on Iran’s nuclear and military facilities. Iran responded with missile strikes on Israel. The escalation of military operations led to the closure of airspace in Iran, Israel, Jordan, and neighboring countries, as well as massive flight delays.
