The number of Palestinians killed since the escalation of the armed conflict in the Gaza Strip in October 2023 has reached almost 56,700, the Palestinian enclave's health ministry said on Telegram.
The death toll in military operations in Gaza since October 2023 has reached 56,647, and 134,105 people have been injured, the ministry noted in its statement.
Also, 116 bodies of the have been transferred to medical facilities, and 463 people have been injured in the past two days.
Active fighting in Gaza resumed on March 18, when the Israeli army launched massive strikes on the enclave, ending a ceasefire in place since January.
And on May 18, Israel announced that it had entered the decisive phase of its Operation Gideon's Chariots, which aims to destroy Hamas' infrastructure.
