The US plans to resume nuclear talks with Iran next week - the meeting may take place in Oslo, according to the Axios portal. Sources familiar with the situation said that White House Special Representative Steve Whitkoff is scheduled to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the fate of the nuclear deal.

A final date for the meeting has not yet been set, and there has also been no official confirmation from either side.

 “If the meeting does take place, it will be the first direct talks since President Trump ordered an unprecedented military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities last month,” Axios notes.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the US strikes caused “serious and significant” damage to the Fordow nuclear center. Now, he said, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran is conducting a technical assessment of the situation, which will result in a report for the government. 

The minister emphasized that only after the analysis is completed will experts be able to determine whether it is possible to restore the facilities. He also reminded that the creation of nuclear weapons is religiously prohibited in Iran.
