The phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump lasted about an hour and has just ended, Russian leader's aide Yury Ushakov said, TASS reported.

“A nearly hour-long regular conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump has just taken place,” he noted.

During the conversation, the two sides discussed in detail the situation in the Middle East, including issues related to Iran and Syria, and agreed to continue dialogue on regional topics. In addition, the presidents paid attention to the possibilities of cooperation in the energy and space spheres.

"The situation around Iran and in the Middle East as a whole was discussed in great detail. The Russian side emphasized the importance of settling all controversial issues, disagreements, and conflict situations exclusively by political and diplomatic means. It was agreed to continue contacts in this regard through foreign policy departments, defense ministries, and between presidential aides," Ushakov said, RIA Novosti reports.

Also, according to Ushakov, Vladimir Putin briefed US President Donald Trump on the progress of the implementation of the Istanbul agreements between Russia and Ukraine. “Vladimir Putin noted that we continue to seek a political negotiated solution to the conflict,” Ushakov told reporters.

"Our president also said that Russia will pursue the set goals, that is, the elimination of the known to everyone root causes that led to the current state of affairs, to the current acute confrontation. And Russia will not back down from these goals," Ushakov said.

He said that US President Donald Trump started the conversation by informing Russian leader Vladimir Putin about the successful passage of the tax and migration reform bill in the Senate.

“As part of the exchange of views on bilateral affairs, mutual interest was confirmed in the realization of a number of promising economic projects, particularly in energy and space exploration,” Ushakov told reporters.

He also said that Putin suggested that Trump exchange movie products. "Vladimir Putin mentioned that literally before his conversation with Donald Trump, he communicated with representatives of the Russian business community. There was, in particular, during this meeting, the idea of an exchange between the two countries of movie products that promote traditional values that are close to us and the Trump administration. Trump immediately reacted and said that he liked this idea," Ushakov told reporters.

At the same time, the topic of a partial halt of U.S. arms deliveries to Ukraine was not touched upon during the conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, Ushakov assured. The possibility of a meeting between the presidents was also not discussed.

"Specifically, about the possibility of a meeting was not discussed... This idea is hanging in the air. If necessary, a specific agreement will also be reached about it," Ushakov told reporters after the phone conversation between Putin and Trump.
