A two-year-old boy in Chongqing, China fell off a 20th-floor balcony of a residential building and survived, reports Mothership.

The boy was reportedly left alone for a few minutes by his grandmother. During that time, he climbed onto the balcony and fell.

The boy's miraculous survival was attributed to his fall being broken by a tree and then a bush, as well as the quick-thinking actions of his rescuers, who ran to the hospital with the child.

The boy suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries and was receiving follow-up treatment. The security guard of the residential complex received an emergency notification at the compound.

Instead of waiting for the ambulance to arrive, the security guard held the boy and ran towards a nearby hospital 800 meters away. After about 600 meters, the security guard got tired, but happened to bump into a police officer.

The police officer took over, held on to the boy, and ran the remaining distance to the hospital. Despite the child's severe condition, the doctors managed to stabilize his condition.

The boy’s survival was credited also to his relatively small frame and light bodyweight, which prevented more serious injuries.
