In an address on the occasion of Army Day, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stressed the need for the exclusive control of state forces—the army and security services—over weapons, NNA reports.

He called for strengthening Lebanon's sovereignty and liberating its occupied territories, stating: "Only the army's weapons are worthy of trust against aggression; they are legal and serve the interests of the state."

According to Aoun, no armed group, including the Hezbollah movement, should have non-army weapons.

The Lebanese president stressed that all armed groups are obligated to hand over their weapons to the army forces, and within the framework of state oversight.
