Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim has arrived in Moscow on a state visit.

His plane, a golden-blue Boeing 737 with royal symbols, landed at the Russian capital's Vnukovo-2 airport, TASS reports.

According to Malaysian media, the interior of this plane was built by the personal order of the monarch, known for his passion for aviation. Sultan Ibrahim, who has a pilot's license, personally participates in the management of this plane, which has been in operation since February 2016.

This is the first visit by a Malaysian head of state to Russia since the establishment of bilateral relations between the then USSR and Malaysia in 1967.

As part of the visit which will conclude on Sunday, the Sultan will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.
