Turkish Chief of General Staff General Metin Çavuşoğlu has been dismissed due to “personnel requirements,” according to MK-Turkey.

According to the source, the annual meeting of the Supreme Military Council was held in Ankara, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Following the meeting, a number of key personnel decisions were announced.

The commander of the Land Forces, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, has been appointed as the new head of the General Staff. The vacant position of commander of the Land Forces was taken by the commander of the 1st Army, General Metin Tokel.

The terms of service of Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, commander of the Naval Forces, and General Ziyeçemal Kadıoğlu, commander of the Air Force, have been extended by one year.

In addition, two generals and an admiral were promoted, and 61 colonels received general and admiral epaulettes.
