Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili stated during a press briefing in the Turkish capital Ankara that Georgia welcomes the steps taken by Armenia and Azerbaijan to establish a lasting peace, Georgia Online reports.

“During the meeting [with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan], we spoke about the situation in the South Caucasus region and our joint efforts to overcome these challenges. We have repeatedly stated, and I would like to emphasize, that Georgia supports the resolution on peaceful coexistence in the South Caucasus and has always expressed its readiness to contribute to the process of promoting peace and constructive cooperation in the region. We welcome the steps taken by Azerbaijan and Armenia towards establishing a lasting peace, which shall contribute to the establishment of peace and stability in the region,” Kavelashvili noted.
