MOSCOW. – Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents may touch upon more actual issues, rather than the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Russian expert Andrei Areshev told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“West is intensively pumping the atmosphere around Iran. In case of negative development of the events, the South Caucasus will suffer as well. It is even possible to turn the region into a sort of front. In this regard, it would be important to discuss Armenia’s, Russia’s and Azerbaijan’s positions and the meeting is a good opportunity,” the expert said.

Despite West presses Armenia and Azerbaijan, it is important for the three Presidents to clarify positions on the issue and support the peaceful decision. Meantime, if the situation changes to the worst around Iran, Karabakh conflict may be frozen, he added.

Trilateral meeting between Russian, Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents is scheduled on Jan. 23 in the city of Sochi, Russia.
