The Russian government has proposed to President Vladimir Putin to abrogate the European Convention for the prevention of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment and its protocols.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the respective decision, RBC reports.
The aforesaid European Convention of November 26, 1987 and its protocols of November 4, 1993 were signed on behalf of Russia in Strasbourg, France on February 28, 1996.
