Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar spoke with his French counterpart and asked France to reconsider recognizing the Palestinian state, Reuters reported, citing the Israeli Foreign Ministry's press service.

Saar told his French counterpart that there was “no place” for President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Israel “as long as France persists in its initiatives and efforts that harm Israel's interests.”

Earlier, Macron said that France would recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly.

Australia, Canada, the UK, and Belgium intend to take similar steps.
