The Israeli strike on the capital of Qatar was carried out near the diplomatic quarter, where about 10 embassies are located, as well as near the road used by Russian diplomatic mission representatives in the emirate, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, according to RIA Novosti.

“The target of the (Israeli) attack, the building that was destroyed, is located in the Doha district, which houses about 10 foreign embassies, and is close to a road regularly used by our embassy staff in Qatar on their way to work and for visits,” Lavrov said at a joint press conference of the foreign ministers of Russia, Kuwait, and the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC).

He noted that the Israeli strike on the Hamas office in Doha was a completely unacceptable action.

The Russian Foreign Minister noted that, in addition to all the geopolitical and practical consequences of this strike in the form of possible insurmountable obstacles to the further development of dialogue aimed at resolving the hostage situation and hostilities in the region, the lives of ordinary citizens, residents of Doha, were also put at risk.

The next round of the Russia-SSAGPZ strategic dialogue is taking place in Sochi on September 11.
