Earlier, 34 people were reported dead in the clashes.

According to updated figures from law enforcement agencies, 51 people have been killed, and more than 1,300 others have been injured.

Earlier this week, riots broke out in the capital Kathmandu and other cities of Nepal after protests against corruption and a ban on social media. They led to the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The main participants in the protests were university students and activists of the Gen Z youth movement. Protesters set fire to several government buildings, and attacked the homes of a number of politicians and officials. A curfew was declared in the country.

On Tuesday, amid protests, the authorities lifted the ban on social media. And on Wednesday, the Nepalese army began negotiations with representatives of the Gen Z movement and some other political forces to form an interim government in the country.
