Mexican authorities have arrested Oscar Antonio Alvarez Gonzalez, considered the chief financier of the Jalisco New Generation drug cartel, Mexico's Secretariat of Security and Civilian Protection informed.
According to the statement, he is accused of "participation in organized crime and money laundering, and is considered the main financial operator of the criminal group, which operated through the purchase of real estate and the management of companies in the tequila and cattle industries."
The arrest took place at capital Mexico City's international airport, when the suspect had arrived on a flight from Barcelona, Spain.
According to Milenio, Alvarez Gonzalez was also allegedly in charge of transferring property rights through notaries working in various communities in the Mexican state of Jalisco.
