YEREVAN. - John Prescott, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Co-Rapporteur on Armenia, did not attend Tuesday’s PACE monitoring session, which was held in Strasbourg, France, Zhoghovurd daily writes.

“Even though he was expected to deliver an oral report on his fact-finding mission to [Armenia’s capital] Yerevan on January 16-17, Zhoghovurd learned that he had not come to Strasbourg at all. [And] All that is known is that, during his visit to Armenia, he had hit his hand on the table, complaining against National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Chairman [and opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party MP] Armen Rustamyan’s question on changing to a 100-percent proportional election system. Incidentally, after the hitting-the-hand-on-the-table ‘ceremony,’ a meal was organized, in a Yerevan restaurant, in Prescott’s honor, but Armenia’s PACE delegation members Naira Zohrabyan, Zaruhi Postanjyan, and Armen Rustamyan did not attend it, and thus expressed their discontent,” Zhoghovurd writes.
