YEREVAN. – Armenian Deputy PM, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan on Friday run the state monitoring council session coordinating works of struggling against illegal tree cutting in Armenia.
The council discussed the report of the state environmental committee at the Armenian Ministry of Nature Protection regarding illegal tree cutting. The report states that over 3,126 trees were illegally cut last year in Armenia.
The monitoring was held by the German International Cooperation (GIZ) within the Sustainable management of the biodiversity in protected areas and forests, South Caucasus, project applying modern technologies of distant probing. The monitoring registered 332,000 ha forest territories in Armenia.
