Police in Georgia are again arresting participants of demonstrations in capital Tbilisi, where protests have been ongoing for almost a year against the ruling Georgian Dream party’s decision to halt the country’s European integration process, reports Georgia Online.

At least five such arrests were known Monday evening.

In recent days, Georgian police have not allowed the protesters to block Rustaveli Avenue in front of the parliament building, as a result of which the demonstrators have been organizing marches, notes the aforesaid Georgian media outlet.

However, even in these cases, law enforcement officers continue to stop march participants, preventing them from moving along their chosen route.

Protesters are being arrested on charges of disobeying lawful police orders and insulting police officers; the courts impose fines or administrative detention.
