The National Assembly of Armenia has convened a special session Friday.

There is only one matter on the agenda of this session: the ratification of the agreement between Armenia and the European Union (EU) on defining the scope of Armenia’s participation in the EU’s crisis management operations.

The explanation of the respective draft states that this agreement provides an opportunity for Armenia to make the best use of the EU’s track record and knowledge in crisis management.

Armenia’s participation in respective EU missions will enable the establishment and/or deepening of interoperability between the relevant departments of the two parties, and this will facilitate further cooperation within various initiatives.

Taking into account that in recent times the partnership agenda between Armenia and the EU has expanded to include cooperation in the security and defense sectors also, this agreement will create an opportunity for deepening and further expansion of cooperation in those sectors as well.
