Jizia village in Armenia’s Lori region which is close to Georgia’s Armenian villages has many problems but the main problem remains to be the opening of the checkpoint, the village head Mher Vardanyan told the reporter of Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him the main issue of the village is the opening of the checkpoints as they have relatives in Georgia, now they have to travel 100 km to see them, if the border were opened they would travel only 2 km.

As the village head mentioned, negotiations for opening the checkpoint are underway with the Georgian government.

The village has also water and gas problems.

The population of the village is decreasing as the young people are leaving for cities and the elderly people are dying.
