YEREVAN. – From Armenia’s 917 communities, 854 of them have cultural homes, and merely close to 450 of them function, but partly, Yerkir daily writes.  

“It is a fact that the doors of rural community cultural homes open from election campaign to [election] campaign, during which the political parties organize their meetings [with the people]. For already several years now, the [ruling coalition’s] Rule of Law Party [RLP] raises, in its election programs, the situation of the rural cultural homes and libraries, [saying] that it will solve this issue if it comes to power. In a conversation with Yerkir’s correspondent, in a village in Sisian region, the villagers could not hold back their anger and said: ‘That RLP, or whatever it is, what does it want now? Will it try to deceive the people this time, too? We do not believe it,’” Yerkir writes.
