Azerbaijan plans to increase natural gas supplies to two more European countries in 2026, bringing the total number of importing countries to sixteen, President Ilham Aliyev said.

“Our [natural] gas exports are growing both in terms of volume and geographical coverage. At the moment, we supply [natural] gas to 14 countries, 11 of which [are] on a regular basis,” the Azerbaijani leader said in an interview with local TV channels.

According to him, there are countries that received Azerbaijani natural gas in 2024, but then stopped purchasing it due to the availability of other sources.

“But this is a unique supply, on demand: when they need it, we start supplying, when they don’t, we stop. But in general, the geographical coverage of pipeline [natural] gas from Azerbaijan is 14 countries, and this year two more European countries will be added to them. Thus, the total number will be sixteen, and this is the largest number of pipeline [natural] gas supplies,” Aliyev noted.

The Azerbaijani leader emphasized that no other country in the world supplies pipeline natural gas to as many countries as Azerbaijan.

“Last year, our [natural gas] exports amounted to more than 25 billion cubic meters, with growth potential,” Aliyev said.

The Azerbaijani president touched also upon Azerbaijani natural gas supplies to Syria, and noted the plans to increase these export volumes.
