YEREVAN. - Armenian Social Fund’s former Head, Vazgen Khachikyan, who, after last year’s scandalous dismissal, had gone to Germany and subsequently found shelter in his native Akhtala town, returned to capital Yerevan in the beginning of this year, Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes.      

“In the past 2-3 weeks, he even began to be seen in public places. This means the danger of Khachikyan being tried [by court] has passed, and the highest echelons of power have assured him that he would not be tried. But several cases, with respect to the Social Fund affair, are already sent to the court. Khachikyan’s close circles say that he truly has no ties to misappropriations, and that his subordinates took advantage of his inexperience,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
