The speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia has categorically declined to talk about the reopening of the Armenian-Turkish border.

While speaking with reporters on Monday, Alen Simonyan was asked whether the media reports about the reopening of this border for third-country nationals and holders of diplomatic passports starting from February 1 were accurate.

Simonyan, however, reacted rather harshly, and declined to comment on this.

There was a similar reaction also to the question of whether any developments were expected.

As reported earlier, the Turkish state-run Anadolu Agency reported that about 90 percent of all planned work at Turkey’s Alican checkpoint—and Margara, on the Armenian side—had been completed.
