The recently discovered picture of the Austrian modernist Gustav Klimt did not becоme a sensation at the Sotheby’s auction.

It was sold for only 6.7 million euros, less than its declared price.

“Lakeshore with Birches” canvas was painted in 1901 and was bought by the owners of the collections in Dusseldorf exhibition Richard and Klara Koenigs-Bunge in 1902.

The most expensive painting of the Austrian painter is “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I”.The restored portrait was sold for 135 million euros at the auction in 2006. The painting became the world’s most expensive work of art in 2006, RIA Novosti reports.
