In April, the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant will be disconnected from the country's power grid for five months. The Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan, announced this during a press conference Tuesday.

He assured, however, that no power supply issues will arise in Armenia thanks to other capacities of the country’s energy system. Khudatyan explained that the capacity of solar power plants in the total power supply share in Armenia is 1100 MW; that is, a little less than 15 percent of the total.

The minister added that excellent cooperation has been established with Iran in the energy sector.

“In 2025, we [i.e. Armenia] have been stably supplying electricity [to Iran] and receiving [natural] gas from there. The construction of the third Armenia-Iran high-voltage line is 85 percent complete," Khudatyan added, and expressed hope that the construction will be completed in 2026, and this will enable increased electricity supplies to Iran.
