Colombian President Gustavo Petro said he had given his American counterpart Donald Trump a list of drug lords living outside Colombia and called for joint efforts to track them down.

"The frontlines of drug trafficking are those who live in Dubai, Madrid, Miami. I have given President Trump the names of them and those associated with them. These are the main ringleaders. Their money is outside Colombia, and it is necessary to jointly track them down, in cooperation with intelligence services from various countries," Petro said at a press conference after meeting with the American leader in Washington.

According to Petro, in order to win against the transnational drug trade, it is first necessary to arrest the ringleaders of the criminal networks, among whom there are also Colombians, but they do not constitute the majority.

Trump and Petro held talks at the White House on Tuesday. After the meeting, the US president announced that they had agreed to work together in the fight against illegal drug trafficking.
