YEREVAN. – Armenia’s several environmental initiatives, organizations, and individuals marched toward the Presidential Office on Tuesday, to submit to President Serzh Sargsyan their demand from him not to sign the bill on Environmental Impact Assessment, which the National Assembly (NA) had passed on February 6, and to return the bill to NA (photo).   

The environmentalists stated that if their demand is not met, they will come to the conclusion that “the destruction of Armenia’s environment is directly coordinated by the Presidential Office,” and they will take relevant measures.   

They also claim that the given bill will enable for unlimited tree-cutting, and without holding public hearings and conducting expertise studies.
