Three people were killed and 58 others injured in the UAE since Iran began its retaliatory campaign in the Persian Gulf in response to US and Israeli attacks, AFP reports, citing local authorities.

The UAE detected 165 ballistic missiles, destroyed 152 of them, and intercepted two cruise missiles, the country’s Defense Ministry said.

In total, “541 Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles were detected, 506 of which were intercepted and destroyed,” the ministry said in a statement.

Three people of Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi origin were killed in the attacks.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Health Ministry reported one death and 32 injuries.

Kuwait Health Ministry spokesperson Abdullah Al-Sanad said that 32 people have been injured since Saturday, all of them foreigners.

Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran was engaging with counterparts from neighboring brotherly countries to clarify that Iran is exercising its right to self-defense in accordance with the UN Charter.

“Iran will not sit idly by when the United States attacks our people. We regret that the targets are located in friendly states,” he noted.

Israel struck Iran on the morning of February 28. US President Donald Trump also announced the start of a US military operation against Iran. Military facilities in western Iran, the residence of the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and an elementary school in the city of Minab were hit.

In response, Iran carried out missile strikes against Israel and US military bases in the region.
