US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their military operation against Iran, Israeli Consul General in New York Ofir Akunis said on March 3.

"I believe that President Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. I hope that President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu will receive the Nobel Peace Prize next year. They deserve it," he said in an interview with Fox News.

In making this case, Akunis referred to the historical events of 1978, when Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin were awarded the prize for signing peace agreements.
