Forbes has published its 40th annual global dollar billionaire rankings.

Elon Musk has once again topped the list of the world's wealthiest people. Second and third places went to Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos took fourth place, having been third a year ago. Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg came fifth in 2025; he had returned to the top three, holding second place.

The 2026 billionaire list is record-breaking overall, featuring 3,428 entrepreneurs, investors, and heirs — around 400 more than in 2025. The combined wealth of list members also reached a record $20.1 trillion, approximately $4 trillion more than the previous year.

The US remains home to the most billionaires — 989 people, including 15 of the top 20. China (including Hong Kong) ranks second with 610 billionaires, followed by India with 229.
