"We never asked for a ceasefire, and we never asked even for negotiations," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with CBS News.

According to Araghchi, Iran will defend itself for as long as necessary.

"And that is what we have been doing so far, and we will continue to do so until President Trump concludes that this is an illegal war in which there is no victory. And, you know, people are being killed just because President Trump wants to have fun," the Iranian FM said.

He also recalled statements by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, who said "no mercy," which, according to the Iranian FM, constitutes a war crime.

"Even the very statement of that is a war crime. So this is a war — President Trump's and the United States' choice, and we are going to continue our self-defense. No, this is not a war for survival. We have... we... we, you know, are stable and strong enough. We are merely defending our people from this act of aggression. And we see no reason why we should talk to the Americans, because we were talking to them when they decided to attack us, and that was the second time.

We don't have a good experience talking with Americans. We were talking. So why did they decide to attack us? So what good will it do if we go back to talking again?" Araghchi questioned.
