The European Union (EU) is in Armenia to assist it in holding free and fair elections. Vassilis Maragos, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, stated this in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am today—and referring to the fact that an EU Rapid Response Team will arrive in Armenia to counter external interference in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

When asked who could be part of this EU Rapid Response Team and which countries would be involved in it, Maragos replied that they are not in a position to provide additional information, only what EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas had announced, and that they are here to assist Armenia.

The EU ambassador to Armenia added that the Rapid Response Team will assist Armenia in overcoming the challenges related to free and fair elections, that is very clear, but he does not know the details.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that an EU Rapid Response Team will arrive in Armenia in early April.
