U.S. President Donald Trump said that NATO allies made "a very stupid mistake" by not helping the United States and Israel unblock the Strait of Hormuz.

"We don't need them, but it was a great test," he said, adding that the U.S. is not obligated to help its allies — especially when it comes to Ukraine — but did so anyway. "So I think it's a very bad signal for NATO," Trump said of the decision not to support the U.S. "I am disappointed."

He again claimed that Iran was just one month away from building a nuclear weapon when Israel and the U.S. struck Iran.

When asked whether he was reconsidering the U.S. relationship with the military alliance or considering withdrawing from it, Trump replied: "That is certainly something worth thinking about. I don't need Congress for such a decision. At this point I have nothing specific planned, but I'm not entirely happy about this."
