Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Thursday that Turkey is giving Iran "friendly advice" to avoid spreading its war with the United States and Israel across the Middle East, adding that Tehran's attacks on countries in the region are unacceptable, Al Arabiya reports.

At a joint press conference with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha, Fidan said Israel is the main culprit in the war, but that Iran bears "historic responsibility" not to attack countries in the region.

He said Ankara is in contact with both Washington and Tehran to understand their positions, and that Turkey's efforts to end the conflict would continue.

Sheikh Mohammed, for his part, condemned Iran's attacks on Qatar's main gas hub after Tehran launched a series of strikes on Gulf states' energy infrastructure the day before.

"This attack has serious consequences for global energy supplies. Such attacks bring no direct benefit to any country — rather, they harm the population and directly affect it," he said, commenting on the significant damage inflicted on the Ras Laffan facility.

Qatar rejects Iran's claims that Wednesday's attacks on the Gulf state's gas facilities were aimed at U.S.-linked targets, Sheikh Mohammed stated.
