The Strait of Hormuz is not closed. Ships are hesitating because insurers fear a war of your choosing, not Iran's. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote this on X in response to US President Donald Trump's recent statement about the Strait of Hormuz.
"No insurer — and no Iranian — will yield to new threats. Try showing some respect.
Freedom of navigation is impossible without freedom of trade. Respect both — or expect neither," Araghchi noted.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump had threatened Iran with the destruction of all its power plants if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened within 48 hours.
