US President Donald Trump acknowledged that he has eased sanctions on Iranian oil, CNN reports.
He assured that the measure is aimed at increasing supplies amid the deepening energy crisis and "will in no way affect" the course of the war.
"I just want as much oil in the system as possible. We don't even know if Iran will receive this money. Frankly, I think it will be very, very difficult for them to get it," Trump said.
According to him, any oil revenues flowing to Iran will be negligible.
"Even the small amounts of money that Iran will receive will not affect the course of this war. But I want the system to work smoothly," he said.
